February 9, 2009 Minutes
Maria Kindburg from JCC presented information on the College Connections Program. Information regarding this program can be obtained from the Guidance Office.
Amy Gavazzi-Chautauqua Works- Discussed Amy's role with the 21st Century Program and working with parents and community members. Amy is presently working with Ms. Bongiovanni with the Career Club. She is also collaborating with Ms. Cathie Kujawa, from Chautauqua Opportunities, in teaching students the necessary skills to secure a job. Business Department Brochure- Shared the brochure created by Ms. Bongiovanni detailing information regarding the Business Education Department. Ideas for PTO – Communication-Would like an increase in communication regarding what is occurring in the school. This can be done through the creation of a monthly calendar detailing the events being held in the school. The calendar can then be posted on line, on the bulletin board outside of the main office, and in the District newsletter. New Parents-Would like to create “a welcome wagon” for new families within the district. Amy Chavez will be working with Mrs. Guy in doing this. Apparel- PTO would like to sell Dunkirk sweatshirts. Will check into seeing if orders can be made ahead of time and then pay upon receipt. Faculty- PTO would like to hear the needs of the faculty so they can support them. Booster Club- Mrs. Guy asked if the PTO could partner with the Booster Club to support the students. Need to find out who is in charge of the Club. School Store- PTO would like to know the status of this. Sue McNamarra from Chautauqua Works will be invited to next PTO meeting to discuss this item. Sue wrote a grant for the school store and she will share where we are with this. Also FBLA will be a part of the operation of the store. Monthly Summaries from each Class- The PTO would like summaries of what each class is doing so they stay informed. March 11th- Asked PTO to volunteer for Bowling Event at Lucky Lanes with 21st Century Program. February 24th- Told PTO that spaghetti dinner was postponed until March.
