• The Dunkirk School District was awarded the Math Science Partnership grant with SUNY Fredonia for the 2018-2019 school year.

The Mathematics and Science Partnerships (MSP) program is a competitive grant program intended to increase academic achievement of students in mathematics and science by supporting and enhancing the content knowledge and instructional practices for teachers of mathematics and science.

From SUNY Fredonia, Dr. Mike Jabot will be working in the elementary buildings and Dr. Cynthia Smith will be working in the middle school.

In the elementary schools a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) block has been added to the schedule. During this time students experience guided inquiry in which they ask higher order questions, problem solve creatively, and develop real life answers. Utilizing this hands-on learning prepares students for a successful future.

"The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say 'The children are now working as if I did not exist.'" -Maria Montessori
