  • It is with great disappointment and sadness that I send you this correspondence.  At 10:00 AM this morning, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association will officially announce the cancellation of the remaining winter state championship events.  Since you have students who are impacted by this decision, I wanted to notify you of this unfortunate news prior to the media being informed; I have attached the press release that is scheduled to be distributed.

The impacted championship events include the boys and girls basketball regionals and state championships, as well as the ice hockey and bowling championships.  Plans are being developed to honor and officially recognize the students and teams who qualified to participate in these championship events.

Factors that played a role in this decision include but are not limited to: the evolving COVID-19 public threat, CDC mass gathering recommendations, Governor Cuomo’s declaration of a state emergency, President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency, input from the 11 Sections and extended school closures.

  • New York is requiring that each public school post the phone number for the state's child-abuse hotline in a prominent location where students can see it. The District is happy to provide this information for the safety of all children.

The statewide toll-free number is 1-800-342-3720.
