We're proud to share the latest edition of The Candle, Dunkirk High School’s Literary and Art Magazine—a creative showcase featuring the incredible writing and artwork of our talented students!
Special thanks to teacher advisors Laura DeBicki and Jodi Korzenski for their dedication in bringing this student-driven publication to life.
Take a moment to explore the imagination, voice, and vision of our Dunkirk students. You won't be disappointed!
We are thrilled to announce that Dunkirk City School district has been nationally recognized as one of America's Healthiest schools by Healthy Alliance. We received the award due to our focus on physical and mental health within the distinct. In Dunkirk, we focus on the whole-child. Being a district that has a Registered Professional Nurse and Licensed Social Worker in each building allows us to better support our students' overall health. Having a medical professional in each building also allows us to complete multiple annual health screenings, manage a student's chronic physical or mental illness, provide individualized healthcare plans for students, and make appropriate referrals to outside community resources as needed. We have upgraded both fitness centers, improved our school lunches, and also now have telehealth for mental health counseling in every building. A special shout out to our incredible Director of Health Related Services, Ms. Nichole Dispense. We could not have achieved this honor without her passion and commitment to the overall well-being of our students.
