Each month awards are given for perfect attendance. The title of this award was derived from two major league baseball players, whose dedication to the game led them to holding the consecutive game streak record. Lou Gehrig played for the New York Yankees from 1923-1939 and held the consecutive game streak record with 2,130 games played.  This record stood for 56 years, until Cal Ripken Jr. of the Baltimore Orioles broke it in 1995.  Ripken finished his career with 2,632 consecutive games played.
