    DID YOU KNOW? 

    22 million pounds of plastic pollution end up in the Great Lakes each year. This includes are very own Lake Erie. 

    HOW IT AFFECTS US

    Researches have found stunningly high amounts of timy plastic pieces in all five Great Lakes, which provide drinking water for 40 million people. This includes people in Dunkirk, New York.

    POLLUTION

    OUR CHALLENGE

    Collect bottles and cans and donate them to your child's school building. Each elementary and middle school will have a recycle bin for your drop off. You may also drop of bottles and cans to Can Kings located at 112-114 Main Street Fredonia, New York and donate them to Dunkirk City Schools, just specify which building you want the proceeds to go to. The schools will choose a charitable organization to donate the funds. W

    RESULTS

    In first, School #7 with 3,515 units @ x.06 cents = $210.90 going to Food Bank of Western New York

    Second: School #5 with 3,178 units @ x.05 cents = $158.90 going to the Uganda Water Project

    Third: School #4 with 2,314 units @ x.05 cents = $115.70 going to the Lakeshore Humane Society

    Fourth: School #3 with 409 units @ x.05 cents = $20.45 going to the Northern Chautauqua Boys and Girls Club

    The grand total amount of monies rasied for charities of choice among all four elementary buildings is $505.95!
