Athletics Vision Statement
Marauder Athletics
-
We strive to provide an opportunity for the complete development of the student-athlete: personal, social, academic, and athletic.
The mission of the Dunkirk Athletics Program is to provide students with the opportunity to positively represent our school and community in a wide range of quality interscholastic programs.
Our program objective is to ensure that the highest standards of athletic competition are maintained while prioritizing student health and safety. The Dunkirk City School District Athletics Program contributes greatly to the overall success of our students and provides them with the tools they need for ongoing success. Participation in one of our 45+ sports is an extension of the learning that occurs in our classrooms and teaches our athletes life-long skills.
At the earliest levels of the Dunkirk Athletics Program, broad participation and skill development are emphasized. As students progress, more advanced and rigorous play requires higher skill levels, and they enter a more competitive selection process.
Through physical education, intramurals, and interscholastic athletics, we offer all students an opportunity to grow, develop, and achieve their full potential.
Dunkirk teams participate in the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association (CCAA) Division I in Section VI, where the Marauders remain competitive.
In addition, our students are often recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) for achieving Scholar-Athlete status.
