COLLEGE/NATIONAL/REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Abbott and Fenner Scholarship- This $1,000 scholarship is available to seniors who plan to continue their education beyond high school.  To apply, students must write an essay on the following topic:  Describe your educational, career, and life goals.  Explain your plan for achieving these goals.  Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.  Visit http://www.abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.php to submit your essay.  The deadline is June 10, 2023.  

    Alfred State Club Sport Scholarship- This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to students who participate in club sports at Alfred State College.  To express your interest in the scholarship and one of the club sports offered, please email clubsports@alfredstate.edu.  The list of available club sports is available at  https://alfredstate.prestosports.com/recreation/Club_SportsThere is no deadline.

    B. Davis Scholarship- This $1,000 scholarship is open to any student who will be continuing their education beyond high school.  To apply, you must write an essay of less than 1,000 words on the following topic:  Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.  Discuss why you believe these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.  Be sure to include your name, current high school, and post-graduation plans.  E-mail your essay to awards@studentawardsearch.com.  The deadline is May 21, 2023.  

    BigSun Scholarship- The BigSun organization is proud to offer a $500 scholarship to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  All student-athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of the sport in which they participate.  The participation may be in any capacity-whether it be as a player, coach, or official.  Please visit www.bigsunathletics.com to apply.  The deadline is June 19, 2023.  

    Braille Group of Buffalo Scholarship- The Braille Group of Buffalo, Inc. offers an annual scholarship for Braille readers. Scholarship money is available for visually impaired students whose primary reading media is Braille and whose residence is in one of the eight counties of Western New York.     Chautauqua County Secondary Principals’ Association Scholarship- Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors from schools in Chautauqua County who plan to attend college after graduation.  The application can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16BTrK1pQ6GqtQGLiTUk30HLfvQiNvfxo9qEJxIx1E14/edit?usp=sharingResponses must be typed into the Google document and completed applications must be emailed to Mrs. Farwell by May 10, 2023.   

    Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association: Woody & Dorothy Lindstrom Scholarship- Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who are interested in the field of conservation or the environment and who are continuing their education at a college or university in the fall.  Applicants must submit a transcript and an essay highlighting their academic and extracurricular activities, community involvement, and any part-time jobs, travel, or hobbies that relate to their career goals.  Academics will be considered, but will not be the main criteria for the award.  Please see this PDF for more information and instructions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jQMs-H86t5Sqshg7mTDohYBdRKBJnuLs/view?usp=sharingApplication materials must be received by April 22, 2023.  

    Chautauqua Region Community Foundation General Scholarship Application- The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation offers a general scholarship application that links students with over 300 scholarships available locally.  The application is open from May 15th through July 15th and is available at: https://www.crcfonline.org/scholarships#scholarshipsThe deadline is July 15, 2023.

    Engineering Society of Buffalo Scholarship- Four $2,400 scholarships are awarded to high school students who anticipate acceptance into an ABET-accredited program at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo State College, or ECC.  The award is based on scholastic record, financial need, extracurricular activities, and leadership potential.  The application is available at https://tesb.org/scholarship.htmlThe deadline is June 1, 2023.

    Italian-American Police Association Scholarships- The IAPA offers scholarships in memory of  two deceased members of the association who were killed in the line of duty; Erie County Sheriff Robert S. Insalaco, (August 13, 1987) and Buffalo Police Officer David J. Scime (September 5, 1974).  Applicants must be accepted to college for the Fall 2023 term and have a minimum GPA of 80.  Applicants must also be prepared to participate in an interview if requested by the scholarship committee.  For more information and to apply, please visit http://iapawny.org/applications/.  Be sure to look at both the Scholarship Application AND the Scholarship Application Guidelines links.  The deadline is May 15, 2023.

    Marist College National Science Foundation Scholarship- This scholarship covers the full tuition, room, and board for Marist College.  Applicants must be majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Environmental Science.  For more information,  please visit https://www.marist.edu/nsf-grantThere is no deadline. 

    New York State Indian Aid- This scholarship is available to students who are on the official tribal roll of a New York State tribe or who are the child of such an enrolled member.  Students can receive $1,000 per semester of full-time study.   For more information and to apply, please visit: https://www.p12.nysed.gov/natamer/The deadline for the fall semester is July 16, 2023. 

    New York State Migrant Education Program Scholarships- There are several scholarships available through the NYS Migrant Education Program for the children of migrant workers.  Please visit https://www.nysmigrant.org/resources/scholarships for more information and applications for each scholarship.  The deadlines vary, but most scholarships are due on June 15, 2023.

    Nitro Scholarship- This $2,000 scholarship is available to any student 17 or older who will be attending college in fall 2023.  To apply, please visit: https://www.nitrocollege.com/nitro-scholarship-application.  The deadline is April 30, 2023.

    Past National Commander Michael J. Kogutek American Legion Scholarship Trust- Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to students attending college in the fall of 2021.  The scholarship will be awarded based on veteran status (including family members), financial need, scholastic ability, realistic goals, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.  Applications are available at http://eriecountyal.org/pdf%20files/MJK%20scholarship%20files/MJK%202023%20Scholarship.pdf.  Completed applications must be postmarked by 12 noon on Friday, May 5, 2023. 

    Pine Hill Drum & Bugle Corp. Student Grant Program-The Pine Hill Drum and Bugle Corps is pleased to announce the establishment of a Higher Education Learning Grant Program for student-members who are at least 17 years old and plan to attend a State University of New York school in the fall of 2023.  Student-Members who participate in the grant program are eligible to receive up to a $250.00 tuition grant award each spring and fall semester (with a total grant award not to exceed $500.00 in a given year) in exchange for maintaining defined grades and fulfilling established Drum Corps service requirements throughout the year.     St. Louis University Gateway Leadership and Service Award- This scholarship, valued at $25,000 over ten semesters will be awarded to one high school senior who has demonstrated a commitment to St. Louis University’s Jesuit values.  Eligible candidates will be conscientious leaders, generous teammates, or enthusiastic servants to their community.  In order to be considered, you must be nominated by your high school.  If you are interested in being nominated, you must have applied to St. Louis University.  Please email Mrs. Stahl or see Mrs. Whitermore in the Counseling Center to be considered for nomination.  There is no official deadline.

    Western Chapter of the New York State Water Environment Association (NYWEA)- This scholarship is intended for high school seniors who will enroll in an environmental-related curriculum.  Winners will be determined based on academics, extracurricular and community activities, references, and personal goals.  Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application.   The application is available as a PDF here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jDyvh338ukhbihseFH6nELQoksJUQSC-/view?usp=sharingThe deadline is April 21, 2023.
