Miss Kathryn Pilgrim
I grew up near Alfred University and have always been around education. My dad is a professor while my mom has worked with 4 year olds through 2nd grade. My earliest jobs were at a library before switching to camps. I went to SUNY Fredonia for my Bachelor's in Science in Childhood Inclusive Education with minors in Chemistry and World Exploration. I studied in Australia for a semester and taught in a 1st/2nd grade classroom about mini-beasts. My favorite class there included scuba diving, canoeing, kayaking, and sailing. I stayed at Fredonia for my Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction in Inclusive Educational Settings. I've since picked up my Chemistry 7-12 and Students with Disabilities 7-12 certification. I'm waiting on my ISTE and Work Based Learning Coordinator certifications as well.
After graduation I worked for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Fredonia for 5 years while substituting in Dunkirk and working for the Salvation Army afterschool program. I enjoyed connecting with the kids in and out of school through basketball and growing my own skills. In April 2018, I started at Clymer Central with the 7th-9th grade Special Education students. I taught science, social studies, English, and math with a group of 8th and 9th grade students as well as consultant teaching with 7th grade English. I also worked as the transition coordinator preparing students for life after graduation.
I'm excited to return to Dunkirk working with the 10th grade Special Education students providing study skills and Consultant Teacher services. You may see me in any of your classes so be sure to say hi or stop by my room.
