Chautauqua County Vaccine Information 5/11/2021

Message from the Chautauqua County Department of Health

Vaccination clinics are listed on the clinic page of our county website and in addition to our clinics, include clinics at hospitals, the Chautauqua Center, and pharmacies: https://chqgov.com/public-health/covid-19-vaccination-clinics

The clinics that we are conducting this week at schools include this evening at Cassadaga Valley’s School bus garage and tomorrow evening at Panama Central School (thank you for your partnership!).  In addition, tomorrow morning is our standard monthly immunization clinic at the Abbe Reformed Church in Clymer and staff will also have 100 doses of J&J COVID-19 vaccine to administer to walk-ins (no pre-registration).

We are holding a Moderna clinic at SUNY Fredonia Friday morning for both first and second-dose vaccine administrations.

I’m sure that you’ve heard that today the FDA expanded the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 to include 12-15-year-olds.  The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is scheduled to meet on Wednesday at 11:00 am to review evidence to recommendation framework, clinical consideration, and implementation with a vote on the expanded use of the vaccine in the lower age group scheduled at 2:45 pm.

If the EUA is approved by the ACIP and that approval is effective immediately, our clinic in Panama will also be open to 12-15-year-olds.  As you can appreciate, we cannot pre-register 12-15-year-olds for this clinic without official ACIP approval and an effective date. Vaccine providers in the county, including CCDOH, currently have an ample amount of Pfizer vaccine and will partner with you as best we can so that your students have access to vaccination opportunities.
