Rebecca Farwell to be awarded by Educational Service Council

Rebecca Farwell

The Dunkirk City School District is proud to announce that high school school principal Rebecca Farwell will be recognized by the Western New York Educational Service Council when the organization honors her with its 2023 Excellence for Administrative Leadership Award.

“Rebecca is so deserving of this distinguished award,” said superintendent Michael Mansfield. “She is an exceptional educational leader and positively impacts our students’ experience daily.”

The award recognizes only one administrator from and outside Erie County and one at-large educator who have consistently demonstrated outstanding service.

A committee of Western New York Educational Service Council board members select individuals to be honored based on criteria including making the difference for kids, leadership, dedication, personal characteristics and longevity. Board of education members, instructional support staff and teachers are honored in addition to administrators.

Farwell has served as an administrator in Dunkirk for six years and was recently promoted to Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, a position which will begin July 1.
