Varsity Boys Soccer Team Clinches Victory Over Fredonia

Staff Report

On their home field Wed., the Dunkirk Boys Varsity Soccer team won a rivalry game over Fredonia, 2-1.
"Felix had great saves in the game," said Trevor Skelly, sophomore. "Ringing the bell was amazing for me. He added that there was "great chemistry" on the DHS team that helped us win the game.
"It was exhilarating. The fans were going crazy in excitement," said Emily Baumgartner, junior. "The boys were proud to ring the bell for the win against their rivals."
Senior Alexis Tofil also witnessed the win from the stands.
The best part was "the aftermath when Dunkirk realized they won the game." She added that it was really nice to see the seniors ring the bell.
Junior Olivia Yerico-Piazza agreed. "I feel like the bell-ringing part was the best part because you could feel the happiness and excitement."
Josue Alfaro, senior, scored the first goal; the game-winning goal was scored by Carlos Rosario, sophomore.
"It was an awesome game against a huge rivalry," said Mrs. Lugo-Alfaro, Spanish Teacher. She said that it has been at least four years since Dunkirk won against Fredonia.
She reflected on her son's goal. "It's a sweet and sour" moment because it was a great goal but he is also playing in his last games as a senior.
